Home for Christmas

UMMMM.....That's not somewhere we are going to make it for Christmas. Granted we are with ALL our family (minus Lindsay...(Loser), and David...also another loser!!) in Oregon!! All nineteen of us in a 1700 ft house. We all love each other, but I don't know how much longer that love is gonna linger. They have not had a storm like this since the early nineteen hundreds, late eighteen hundreds. It is the craziest thing I have ever witnessed. It is so gorgeous outside. It hasnt stopped snowing or raining freezing rain for over a week!!!! We were all traveling in this storm and made it here safely right before it got ugly but aren't going anywhere for some time. The power started flickering out yesterday, so we were getting everything prepared for that. Bless my sisters heart!!! She is a little freaked out trying to think if she has the neccessities to provide means if there is a power outage....luckily, she has been diligently "being prepared" and has followed our prophets words and has her food storage and a generator...and the stuff to live.
Granted she wasn't storing things for 19 people (her little family of 5), but she's done a pretty darn good job.
It's a little frustrating thing for me right now. My husband forgot to deposit his paycheck before he flew in, we have a dog outside that is hopefully still being taken care of, a Christmas tree that hasnt been watered since friday, we are suppose to be closing on our house in a couple weeks but have things that need taken care of before;....the list can go on and on....and on.
The storm started with snow and snow...then it started freezing rain...which is totally crazy if you haven't ever witnessed it!!! It seriously is! Then it snowed another six inches, then freezing rain again. We have a pile of Ice on my car that is about 1/2 inch thick, then 6 inches of rain, then another 1/2 inch of ice.
It's all so surreall...
I am just grateful that everyone arrived safe and we are all together.....for some time.
I am going to post a picture of this craziness when its a little less crazy.

What Does Your 'Pre-schooler' Want For Lunch??

Tell me would ya!!! Bet it's not as gross as this!!!

I have found that I HAVE to give my kids an option for lunch, otherwise, they'd starve. So, I gave them their options
Me:What would you munchkins like for lunch...Mac n Cheese, or Mickey Mouse Nuggets.
Prince Charming: UMMM...Pickles...with Bread and uh...honey on top!
Of course, I gave him many reasons why that wouldn't be very appetizing. But to much dismay....he persisted and persisted...so I gave in (hoping I could prove him wrong..ya know, Mommy knows best) Ya, didn't work...

Let's just hope he chooses not to go into the Culinary Field!!

Thank heavens for Mrs. Peeps!

Meet Mrs. Peeps. This came in the mail yesterday, December 1st, to Prince Charming and the 2 Royal Daughters. (haven't come up with the princess names yet...M loves Cinderella, so that just may stick.) Anyway, The King brought in the mail and said there was a letter from Santa to the kids.

This is what the letter says:

Christmas is approaching and this is the day
Santa has sent Mrs. Peeps to your house to stay.

He sends this small elf to your house and mine
The first day of December she must be on time.

Mrs. Peeps has a purpose. Her purpose will be,
To whisper to Santa all the good that she sees.

From December 1st to Christmas she watches to see
If your presents should number thirteen or three.

Soon after she gets here she moves only at night,
To high places, she stays in plain sight.

In the kitchen, for instance, she sits high on a shelf.
Mrs. Peeps can sit anywhere, for she is an elf.

She holds very still when she thinks you are watching.
Her magic is precious, it fades when ones touching.

She sits on the tree on Christmas Eve day.
She knows that Santa is soon on his way.

She waits and she waits without making noise,
She waits until Santa arrives with the toys.

From her notes they determine the number of toys
Placed under the tree for all girls and boys.

So you better be nice and mind what you say
Because Mrs. Peeps will tell Santa when he comes in his sleigh.

Once Christmas is here and Santa has come
Mrs. Peeps must leave, for her job is well done.

But she will return next year on the very same day,
To watch your behavior as you work and you play.

They were both really excited at first for Santa to send Mrs. Peeps, but the oldest princess, Cinderella had doubts about her.
She said, "Mrs. Peeps is mean, she's not suppose to tattle.(sp??) HAHA, I thought that was cute.
Prince Charming on the other hand was too excited to sleep. He went to bed and after an hour and a half of sleeping this was our conversation.
PC: MOOOMMMMMM!!!!! MOOOMMMMM!!! COME HERE PLEASSEEEE!!!!
ME: Oh my, you're not asleep yet? (freaking out cuz it's 9:30 pm, and he's got preschool in the morning.)
PC: I have been sleeping, is it morning yet?

He was so excited to see where Mrs. Peeps was going to be in the morning that he couldn't sleep.

Well, maybe you should go check your mailbox or doorstep and see if Santa sent Mrs. Peeps to your house!

Now, Mrs. Peeps is suppose to be an actual elf....but when you live in Wendell and it's a last minute run to the store....your pickens are limited. Maybe next year, Santa will bring a REAL elf.

Halloween and other happenings!

Halloween day started off by a showing on our house (yippee), a fabulous photo shoot from sears...(they are cheap & turned out cute & they were not Halloween pictures...I just choose this time of year for the yearly shoot ;) ) and a night full of trunk or treating. The pictures aren't that great of the kids, so I may just have to put them in their costumes again for a few photos.
My trick or tr eaters consisted of
1) A hot wheels race car driver
2) A stinkin cute bumble bee
3) An adorable chubby lady bug!
This year by far was most enjoyable. The kids would ACTUALLY say those magic words "trick or treat" and then (I have ALWAYS told them that in order for that goody to stay in their bag,) they HAVE to say thank you,(or the giver is entitled to remove the treat...am I mean?)
Madi loved it and wanted to leave the ward trunk or treating and go actuall trick or treating. We have a few of the grannies that EXPECT us to stop by every year so we did go visit them. Lily LOVED it too! She was sucking on a sucker the whole time enjoying the weirdness of the world. (that's what Riley calls it.)
So that was our Halloween.

Our house showed this past Friday to an older couple from California that had already looked at it once before....they were at our house for quite some time (I was hiding out...peeping at them from my neighbors house...ssshhh don't tell) and scheduled another visit Saturday....
While they were here, my realtor called and said....

keep going

THEY WANT TO PLACE AN OFFER!!!!! Although, it was not the offer we hoped for, we were able to counter offer back and forth a bit.....and now are sleeping on the decision.....They are retiring in August and won't move in until then....so the plan, if all goes well....is we will take their offer, close on the house Dec 31st, and live here "rent free" (reimbursement, if you will, for a lower offer) until Bill is finished with our new house.
We shall sleep on it, so who know's??..???zzzzzzz.........zzzzz.
We will make a decision on Monday.

MEMORY GAME

This is a great idea! Everybody PLEASE play!!!

1. As you comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember.

2. Next, repost these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty fun to see the responses.

If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you are playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave a memory about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you do not have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. Have fun!!

My Birthday Boy!

My little man is 5 years old! This is a little late, but I have been pondering what I wanted to write about and to my little man. Today as I sat and thought, over and over again I thought about him and all the doctors appointments and corrective surgeries he's had....and through them all, he kept that contagious grin right between his chubby little cheeks. I couldn't help but be teary eyed...it brought back a lot of memories during the first 3 years of his life....All that he went through and endured.

To my little R-Dubb ( short for RW, which is short for Riley William),
Five years ago on October 17th, you were born 5 hours after we arrived at the hospital. You were definitely our surprise baby. We had only been married for 6 months before we found out you were coming into our newly founded family. We were definitely scared but extremely excited! I remember so vividly the moments that happened right after your birth! The doctor held you up and showed me our new little boy, but my heart just broke after seeing your precious little feet. That was news to our doctor and us, but he assured me that everything was going to be fine, and explained that they would just bend your tiny little ankles where they belonged and hold them in place with a cast. They called it serial casting. They casted you the day after you were born. My heart just ached for you. All of the questions I had....pain, future, walking.....You were such a strong little boy. I'll be honest.....you were quite cranky the first month....the doctors just told me you were colicky....now I think about it...you were probably very uncomfy with those casts on....
You were a little over 1 month old and mommy was having awful pains and breathing episodes....I was told that I needed to have my gall bladder removed....when this happened, Dad was going to be in charge of taking care of you until I healed...I was so nervous about having this surgery because I didn't want daddy to have to care for you himself because of your crankiness. Come to find out, you decided you were going to be such a good little baby and Dad had no problem what so ever.
You were determined to get around while in your casts. We had to take you back to Primary Children's Hospital 5 different times for them to replace the casts because you had wore holes right down to your skin on your knees and heels...from crawling and kicking. I still laugh about what happened on your last surgery. This was the most extensive surgery you had. The serial casting wasn't quite positioning your little feeties where we wanted them. So they decide to do an Achilles tenotomy. That meant they were going to actually cut your tendon in have and connect back together at the tips of the cut. They were also going to pin your toe bones where they needed to be. Shortly before we had to go have the casts taken back off and the pins removed. You were sitting out on the front porch while I was cleaning out the car and I hear you yelling "I GOT IT, I GOT IT!" I came to see what you were so proud about "getting". YOU PULLED OUT THE PIN THAT WAS HOLDING YOUR BONES PUT! I was horrified and thought you'd have to re-do the surgery again, but the doctor told me where you appointment was in a few days, you'd be okay. You little stinker! You were so proud you got that metal "thing" that was in your cast. The reason I talk about your surgeries is because that has been a majority of your life.....However, you don't remember very much of it and focus on all the fun stuff. There have not been any set backs in your development as an "all boy". You run, jump, skip, swim, and now are riding your bike with out training wheels. What a big boy. You are the best big brother any sibling could ask for. Madi LOVES to play with you, and Lily loves to watch you and smile with you. You are very protective of you little sisters and I think right now, they kinda like it....we'll see how that works when the teens finally hit. We love you so much Riley and are so happy you are ours!

Things Riley likes right now:
Riding his four wheeler
Riding his bike
Playing with Roxy
Playing with Madi

You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family. A loving home is of great
importance to you and you always try to make people feel welcome. Although you have a great capacity to love, you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be
sensitive. You're firm when you need to be, but people trust your judgment and
appreciate the kind way you always handle things.

Randomness

This is how we spent our Sunday Night! I love days like these!!
Madisen has just gotten into dancing. I bought a kids bop CD and she turns it on through out the day and starts dancing her life away. Well she wanted to show Dad cause he always misses out do to the necessary calling of the term BREADWINNER. She just learned today how to "shake it".
We have been trying for a long time to get Riley into the preschool program at the elementary. They screen the kids and look for any area that they are "delayed" in. Some acquaintances were saying that he'd probably get in because most everyone gets in. Well I'm not sure if I'm excited, or disappointed, that my kids smart!!??!! Okay, I'm relieved....He passes the screening. So it's a good thing in the sense that he is up to par in his abilities. But I really wanted him in a preschool learning because he misses the Kindergarten deadline by one month. So he will be 5 a whole year before he starts Kindergarten. The preschool teacher told me that they take peer students but she if full right now and that she'd put me on a waiting list. I think she could tell I was a little disappointed and called me the next day saying she had an opening in the afternoon class.....Yay!!!! However to be a peer, you have to pay....which I think is retarded because the other students don't have to. Oh well, he's in, Right?
So it was a bitter sweat moment today as I walked him into his class.
Riley's first day of Preschool.Madisen had to get ready too...she wanted to go and didn't want Riley to go alone. Cuteness!

Lily was looking for lunch and decided she didn't want anything in the fridge after all. It was quite entertaining to watch, she started screaming because she couldn't figure out what to do next.
Helping Daddy read house plans and LOVING it.

Going Once, Going Twice, Sold! - MAYBE!

Oh my goodness!!! To my family: NO ONE knows about this just because I didn't want to get my hopes up but guess what!!!!! It's almost official (I guess I may still be having a little to high of hopes, but oh well, it feels good.) Tonight, a couple that looked at our house on Monday, is coming back again tonight to look at it again. They were here for a LONG time on Monday looking at it and through it. YIPPEE! They eliminated their options down to ours and another house. However, my realtor just called me and told me that the showing realtor said that our house was more promising for the couple and that they were really excited about it.!!! I almost started bawling on the phone to my realtor, I couldn't believe it! With the housing market the way it is (awful), our house has only been listed for 53 days and we may have just had our prayers answered. I have been praying my heart out the right people will come along quick and fall in love with our house. This is going to be such a positive step for our family for many reasons!!! I have had this conversation with my Mom on several occasions! I feel like I am always picking up constantly in order for my house to stay clean, therefor , me feeling like I've neglected my kids. We've outgrown their rooms and so the living room has become the toy room, so of course it is always scattered with toys. If I take my time to play with them, my house goes to pieces and at the end of they day, I feel bad that I didn't get what I needed to done and my husband has to come home to a messy house. I am torn! I love my kids to death, but I never have MY space ever....I have no place to go to just sit and have a little quiet time. We are always just ON TOP of each other!!! The kids need their space, I need my space, and Bill needs his space. Our new house will have a toy room, an office/library. This will hopefully eliminate the messy front room scattered with toys, and provide a place to go and relax. I hope people aren't thinking that I'm being worldly or ungrateful for what I do have. That's not the case. I feel very blessed for the things we have, for the work that's basically been handed into Bill's hands, for working vehicles, for the toys the kids have, to be able to go grocery shopping, to be able to provide my kids the clothing they need (maybe a little to much, I have a fetish for clothes especially the clearance rack....wonder where I get that from MOM). And very grateful for the opportunity we have to be able to build a house that we are wanting/needing. Very Grateful indeed. I love prayer, I love my Father in Heaven and I love my Savior Jesus Christ. Now that I got that off my chest, let's just hope that I'm not writing in a week or so saying that the cute little couple chose the other house. :)

My poor baby

!!Warning!! If you can't handle blood, do not look at the bottom of this post.

My goodness! My poor baby has taken on a couple major "ouchies" the past couple days. Social Services just may come in and check things out in the King household seeing how Madi shows up in the ER TWICE in a week and a half, then with Lily bug all dinged up.....okay she doesn't look that bad, just a couple marks.

Yesterday was our Stake Conference and we were just a little late due to waking up at 9am and conference was at 10. Yikes I know, don't ask me how I did it, but I managed to get all 3 kids, a diaper bag full of "stuff" and myself ready. Luckily, we had all showered and bathed that night. I can't take all the credit I guess, cuz I did have a smidget amount of help from the dear husband that likes to sleep in? ;) So, we arrived at our church building and found a seat in the very back of the cultural center??? (is that what you call the gym?) Lily was a little tired so I stood up behind our seats to walk with her....

******side note****** usually when walking into another room that has it's door closed, I would think that a normal person would open the door slowly for 2 reasons.

1 being that you have no idea what's on the other side of the door, or if anything is in front of the door

and 2 being, HELLO!!! you don't want to make a big scene and have everyone turn their heads in your direction!!! Unless of course you have on a super cute outfit and a new hairdo and you want people to notice you.
********end note********

Like I was saying, I stood up to rock her back behind our seats and I'm cradling her in my arms and she is slowly drifting off to sleep and all of a sudden....CRACK!!! that's exactly what it sounded like... Some man came in and I swear he shoved that door open as fast and as hard as he could, and it cracked my sleeping baby right in the head! EVERYONE heard and turned their heads and you could just hear all the gasps they all threw out after realizing what happened. I felt really bad because I was walking past the door, but this man could've opened the door like a normal person would!!! No blood or anything....just a screaming baby and a very sore head...poor baby.

The second "ouchie" happened this morning. Lily is really excited about being able to stand up to things and cruise around. She was standing up holding on the coffee table and Riley had slid off my center piece that she was holding on to and her hands went down with the center piece, leaving her head trailing behind and she wacked the corner of her eye on the edge of the table.....

The picture up above doesn't do it any justice (however it doesn't look as bad as it did) but it was bleeding like crazy and I made Bill come home to see if she needed stitches. Luckily it was tiny little bugger that just bled A LOT. A little ice cube for her to suck on and one for her eye did the trick. I just hope she doesn't get a bruised eye.

Like I said, Poor Baby!

My poor husband has a new owie too! He was laying a floor the other night and a board caught his toes, and this is the outcome.....

You tell me what's wrong with this picture!

Intermountain Healing Hearts Fun/Run Walk

Mercydez Haws

This past weekend, Lily and I headed on down to Sandy to stay with my mother and to attend a Heart walk in behalf of a sweet little baby and her family that has had an impact on my life. She is the cutest little 8 month old on the planet and her special spirit you can feel eminating from her! Her name is Mercydez and her parents are Nic & Ashley. They belong to a support group for families that have children or adults dealing with congenital heart defects. Anyway, Natalie decided to come with me and on Saturday we got up got ready and headed to Orem to participate. Natalie wanted to show her support for Mercydez (she has become drawn to her also) and also to share her little journey dealing with VSD. We got there at 8:30 to register. We got our T-shirts and Natalie even got a special little heart sticker that made her feel REALLY special :) Anyhow, the run started and off we went! I have to say, I was a little disappointed with my finishing time. It took me TWICE as long to finish a mile as it did when I was a senior in high school! Granted that was...oh 8 years ago - But still! 12:01!!! What the World!! I have a few excuses though...
1)Natalie tired out (which is to be expected..she is out of shape. HAHA just kidding, it's because of her heart.) And I would stop with her.
2) I was pushing a HEAVY load. ;) Lily and the jogger. (Ok, lily is only 14 lbs, and the jogger is extremely light.)
3) The last excuse is ALL THE PEOPLE. (I couldn't get around them.) It was so amazing to see these families with special heart kiddos join together for support. I'm sure it's nice to have someone to talk to that REALLY understands what you are actually going through.
I really didn't lose the run, I just ran out of time.
Anyway after the race, I saw the sweet baby I was there for. I was so nervous to approach them it was killing me! I didn't really know what to say but to introduce myself. Did I mention how CUTE the both of them are! Ashley gave me a hug right off and introduced me to Mercy. JUST ADORABLE! You can seriously feel this childs sweet spirit and it draws you in and in....and you just feel all warm and tingly (cheesy I know) her spirit is just so clean and pure and she just makes you want to be like that....Heavens I don't know how to explain it...I probably sound all crazy, but I guess you'll know how I feel once you experience it. Nic and Ashley are amazing parents and have such an incredible amount of Faith and Trust in God in directing them in making the best decisions for there sweet little girl. They are truly AMAZING. After everyone finished the run, they did a special little ceremony for the sweet heart angel babies and can I just say how sad...I have no idea who these mothers that have lost there little babies are, but it just brought tears to my eyes...I can't even imagine the pain of losing a precious little baby...nor would I ever want to try to imagine...it was a very special ceremony they held and a tear jerker at that. I so glad that I got to go....thanks hon for hanging with the other kiddos so I could. xoxo
Here are a few pictures from our fun run/walk.
After the Run all nasty and sweaty - Lily was getting hungry I think.
Natalie and her special sticker.
Lily REALLY wanted my sunglasses
Me, Ashley, Mercy and Nic.
Lily and Nat after the run.

Okay, speaking of HEARTS... LAter that night, my mother was getting a play pen set up for Lily to sleep in because I was not having it again tonight. (Lily in my bed) She opened up the closet in the room I was staying in and got some blankets out for Lily and made her up a cute little bed. After she did that, she went to her room to get pj's and I was going down stairs to make Lily a bottle. I had turned to go back to the room I was sleeping in cuz I forgot the bottle. I flipped on the light and Mysti (the cat that has been missing for 10 days) came running out of the room!! I screamed and yelled for my mom and she yelled back and I said it's mysti!! She thought I was kidding because this cat has seriously been MIA for 10 days. They thought that the cleaning ladies left a door open while they were there cleaning and mysti got out....or...she is a really old cat and they heard that when they are ready to die, they go hide and find there "resting place". So they had searched the house in and out for a dead cat!!! (yuck I know) No Mysti anywhere so they had figured the first conclusin had happended. So heck yes it scared me, I bout had a heart attack!! Not to mention right before we had gone up stairs to make the bed...I was reading my cousin LACHELLE's BLOG and she had posted a freaky thing (http://marklachelle.blogspot.com/2008/09/i-see-dead-peopleok-not-really-but-sort.html)so I guess you could say it caught me off guard and my heart was literaly pounding out of my chest...(ya know how sometimes after you get startled your heart hurts?) Well that's how mine felt.

Here, Lily is laughing at a baby laughing on the internet

She loves bath time...especially from Grandma.

WE'RE BACK!!!!

Wow!!! Can you believe it!! I finally have all my pictures organized and things have settled down a bit. After this update, I have updated from my last post up until now!!! Hooray! There is quite a bit of writing but I have to do this. I promised myself that I will have this blog printed as to act like my journal, so I am trying not to miss anything.
July 12th
We had the Peterson Family Reunion and went to Lake Walcott and had a picnic and just hung out. We took the boat out and for the first time, I decided nothing is keeping me from trying to wake board now, so it's now or never....dang I'm good!!! My first try to get up and I did it....Now I know I look goofy and awkward, but I was just excited I was up and had not been drug in the nasty water..see my hair is still dry!!!Bill caught some good air a few times and had a good crash :)

See, Dry Hair!
Oh, Still Dry Hair!
Okay, the Dry hair ends here!
Our day in the sun wiped out the kids and it was a nice quiet drive home. Okay so Lily napped most of the day, so she was wide awake.

July 18-20
We had the Phillips Family Reunion at Aberdeen Reservoir. I have no pictures from this reunion, but it was very fun. We had boat rides, talent shows, a real "dead pig" and lamb ??? roasted for us, well for them, I chose not to participate in that. :) It is one of my fav reunions to attend and am so lucky to have these people as my extended family. I remember when Bill brought me for the first time and everyone just welcomed me right in and was so kind and loving. I love you guys!!! I suppose next time I better take pictures.

July 28- August 8th.
We had Andrea down from Oregon come visit for a few days then off to Utah she went. While she was here we had a great time. Riley was so excited to see the boys. They played and played and surprisingly, there were maybe a couple squabbles between the boys. Redden has one little girl that is very fond of him. Her name happens to be Madisen. She followed him everywhere, did what he did, studied what he did and followed him some more. Her new name is "shadow". Here are some pics of when they were here.
Playing the Wii - (Note - what is Madi watching...yes it's Redden)

Lily and Andrea

After they left....I headed up to Grace to hang out and to go to the good ol' Caribou County Fair. Thanks Grandma for letting us stay. We had a grand time during the yard sale, the parade, the rodeo, the easy way trips for the mugs, and last but not least the scooter rides. Thanks McKelle!! After our hang out in Grace, we went to Logan (for Andrea's surprise baby shower) and stayed at Grandma Andreasen's house (If you ever read this G-ma thanks again)We hung out with Andrea again at the pool and at the baby shower. AUGUST 17TH

August 2002 - Wedding Day

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BILL!!! 6 years ago today, you were standing in the bathroom doorway telling me to "hurry we're gonna be late". I still remember the day clearly. The night before we stayed up into the wee hours of the morning planning our future. That morning your parents were coming into town to set up the luncheon we were having....I was trying to get my hair all ready and it wasn't quite done by the time we needed to get to the luncheon. Many family and friends were there to celebrate with us. It's such a special day in itself not only for our eternal marraige in front of our dear family here on this earth to witness, but that some saw Grandpa Phillips and another relative there witnessing it also. It was truly a special day.
We celebrated by going to Utah and just hanging out. Thanks Mom and Mary for watching the kids... We shopped, played minature golf, drove some really fast go karts, went to park city - shopped and rode the new alpine coaster....that was great! and just relaxed and watched a few flicks.

Here are a few pictures of our last six years.
